Doaa Elghobashy is an Egyptian Volleyball player and we would love to share her story this week. Doaa and her team competed in 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio against Germany in which she made history as she wore fully covered clothing (long sleeves, pants and hijab) during the competition.
“I have worn the hijab for 10 years. It does not keep me away from the things I love to do, and beach volleyball is one of them.”
She has been a hijabi for 10 years and it has always been part of her beach volleyball career. Because of this, she has become an inspiration for all Muslim women especially to those who are active in sport. Other than that, her team was Egypt’s first Olympic team to compete in a beach volleyball tournament.
Masya Allah, how inspiring. I can’t even stand staying under the sun for 10 minutes. Imagine, she is from Egypt, a desert, hot and less likely to rain country. Alhamdulillah sudah Brunei ani ada hot and wet weather and yet I still complain when it is hot. I strive to be a better person and will try to appreciate things around me. Also, less complaining about our hot weather hehe.
Now, you tell us who inspires you and why.
