Our second #CbAmpower for the month of February is……
Nurliyana Fatin binti Arifin or known as Fatin Arifin.
Fatin was the recipient of the Excellent Youth Award in 2017 and Brunei Youth Award in 2015 awarded by His Majesty for her excellent work and service in volunteerism. Through her active involvement and commitment, she has represented Brunei in various programme as invited speaker, panel forum member and mentor for capacity building, knowledge and skills in various fields. In one of her interview, the awards and recognition inspire her to contribute more, not only to the community but also towards youth development in Brunei. She believed that she could do more in assisting the youth.
She holds several portfolios such as Vice President of Young Entrepreneur Association Brunei (YEAB), which she has successfully brought the association to the global level by setting up an international networking known as CAYE-Asia. Through this network, she successfully enabled 15 local young entrepreneurs to take part in four international entrepreneurs’ forums held in India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and the UK. Other than that, she is also the Curator for Global Shapers-Bandar Seri Begawan Hub, and Director of Education for the Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT).
There’s more…. She was also one of the Chevening Scholarship recipients by the British Government in 2013 where she took MSc in Emerging Economies and International Development at King’s College London as part of her interest in understanding global economic development.
Pheww.. She’s the man! Amazing portfolios, various experiences in entrepreneurship and social works. She’s another example of empowerment. Even the simplest things can empower someone. Hope to see more Bruneians (even myself) can achieve something like her even a fraction.
